I set the intention this year that I would deepen my involvement with a segment of the population near and dear to my heart- when NEDA (National Eating Disorder Association) asked me to create a painting activity for the upcoming walk to raise awareness for the cause I was incredibly humbled and grateful... the next thought was "What would the activity be?" I pondered and thought about what has been a consistent thread in my journey? Writing... Writing... Writing... "Journaling is like whispering to one's self and listening at the same time" - Nina Murray
I have painted on my own journals for years and have had a long affinity for mini journals - a small sacred space for capturing a moment in time. I am a true believer if I ask the universe with an open heart and a pure motive for what I want it delivers it in the perfect moment. So when I was introduced to @birdneststudio - a beautiful soul, artist and bookmaker by the talented, kind soul @orlyavineri I was over the moon in gratitude that we would collaborate on creating journals for the NEDA walk. Recovery is a process and as an artist I love process - it brings clarity and clear direction. So this weekend we will add the canvas paper front covers to these beautiful handmade journals - the first 200 participants to attend the walk will get to paint their own journal as a moment to reflect on recovery and give hope to those with an eating disorder.
